It’s pink! Very pink

The Little Black Dress edition of The Rules of Gentility–out today in the UK and elsewhere!

Here’s the back cover blurb:

Fashion and charitable works are all very well–but what’s a Regency girl got to do to get married around here?

Regency heiress Philomena Wellesley-Clegg is not short of offers. Unfortunately those doing the offering–two lords, a viscount and a mad poet–all fall short of her expectations. But she’s about to meet Mr Inigo Linsley. Unshaven, wickedly handsome and hiding a scandalous secret, he simply isn’t Philomena’s type–so why can’t she stop thinking about how good he looks in his breeches?

Pride and Prejudice meets Sex and The City in this ravishing Regency romp about boys, bonnets and breaking the rules.

Isn’t that cool? And the sort-of sequel, A Most Lamentable Comedy, will be released in March 2009.

Today I’ve joined the History Hoydens–I’m blogging over there about local history, the town of Bladensburg, Maryland. Come and check it out.

Tell us your news–what you’re writing, reading, doing.

I’m pleased to announce that I’ve just moved into my new office, which, after many trials and tribulations and paint adventures, is great. The cat likes it and she likes to sleep on the new rug that I showed you in last week’s post.
I actually have room to store things! Amazing!

The cover gods smile on you,Janet. The original cover was very nice, too.

Happy to hear about the followup – I’ll have to find a good quote from it to use in another newsletter article *g*

Congratulations on the release of Rules of Gentility in the UK!!!

May it be advertised in every London underground station! (they really do advertise books in the London subway)

Here is how to order the UK version of Janet’s book.

Janet, congrats on the release and your new office.

I just rearranged/cleaned out my office and it feels *good.*

Looking forward to March.

That’s a beautiful cover, Janet, though I think I prefer the American one. Will A Most Lamentable Comedy be released in the US as well?

I’m home from work sick today, though I’m feeling immensely better after sleeping most of the morning away. Maybe I was only a little bit sick and a whole lot tired…

This weekend I finally set up the basement writing office that I’d been planning since we moved into this place over a year ago. It’s still not complete–I need to actually hang my whiteboard on the wall instead of just propping it up, and I want to do some character collages so I’m surrounded by inspiring images. But it’s amazing how much better my writing is going now that I have a dedicated space with all my research materials on the bookshelf by my desk and the scene I’m working on mapped out on the whiteboard.

Congrats on the new office, new job (yes?) and the new UK release!

I am writing again and am on fire. Re-writing one manuscript and really getting into what looks to be the next one in line for the series I’m cooking up. No pun intended there since my heroines are chefs and all, lol.

I am blissfully re-reading some of my keeper books. That’s what happens when I go to fill yet another Rubbermaid container with books while fishing out my Christmas reads.

Other than that, I’m busy as a deli diva and squiring my cherubs hither and yon. Gotta work on more hither and less yon!

My goodness, there is a lot of good “office” karma here! Way to go, ladies.

Santa and Susan, glad the writing is going well!

It is indeed very pink! I must say I prefer your American cover, which I adore. But pink’s good too. 🙂

I do love the American cover, but would read the book in any cover. It really is one of my favorite books ever, Janet!

Wow, all of you are getting your offices in order and I am still working on mine! It is a slow process and I am trying to spend every spare minute writing!

Congrats, Janet!

I read “The Rules of Gentility” and it was hilarious. I loved it. Waiting for “A Most Lamentable Comedy”.

Yeah, congrats! And already have your newest one on my list. . . and I have no office, but my desk is the same mess that it has been for, well, forever. LOL 🙂
