Look at them up there, glaring! The Miss Bingleys definitely want to duke it out. They’re both fierce and cruel. They’ve both been educated by the best instructors. Who do YOU think would win in a fight? Would one win at boxing, and the other at wrestling, or would one wipe the floor with the other in any form of combat?
Or how about the Lady Catherines??? Which one of these would beat the other at mudwrestling? At boxing? At sumo wrestling?
Would they pull hair and bite??? Would they gouge each others’ eyes out?
Who would you wager your hard-earned money on?
Inquiring minds want to know!

MY LADY GAMESTER — Holt Medallion Finalist!
I’d take the dark-haired Miss Bingley over the titian-haired one anyday. She looks scrappier. As for Lady Catherine, how can you bet against Dame Judi?!?
And Cara–Holt Medallion Finalist? WAY TO GO!
Well, I didn’t see the new movie, so I can’t say anything about the Bingleys, but based on seeing Judi Dench in the Bond movies (LOL), I still would go with the other Lady Catherine. Boy was she a beast. But if Judi Dench has the Bond gadgets, well, no contest. LOL
Okay, yeah, yeah, I’m nuts! 🙂
Lois
Duck-face (From Four Weddings and a Funeral) as Miss Bingley. She was straight up nasty, whereas new Miss Bingley just looked pinched.
Lady Catherine: that’s tough. The A&E Lady Catherine (help, I don’t remember her name) was nasty, but she seemed physically frail. I’m betting on Dame Judi for this battle.
On to the squared circle!! Let’s get ready to RRRRummmble!
Good point about Duck-Face, Suisan! We know she can knock someone’s lights out. 🙂 And she does seem a tall woman — she might be able to squash the ginger Miss Bingley like a toothpick. Then again, ginger seems just the sort to have a dagger in her garter, or poison in her fake fingernails. 🙂
And my money’s on Dame Judi. Just look at that expression! She can’t wait to start taking Barbara Leigh-Hunt apart!
Cara
I’ve got to go against consensus here and pick the red-headed Miss Bingley (or sleevless hussy) over Duckface. I know, some of you would disagree, but I got a major bad vibe from Sleevless Hussy. And for all that we know Duckface can throw a punch, I think she might run if confronted with someone actually intent on doing her harm. (Charles in Four Weddings couldn’t hurt a flea). And I think Cara’s got her number–Sleeveless Hussy is definitely the knife in garter type.
As for the Lady Catherines, I’ll go with Judy Dench on the Shakespearean principle that “though she may be little, she be fierce.”
Congrats on the Holt Medallion nom Cara!
Hmm. I have to back Dame Judi as well, on the basis of physical fitness. And she clearly had the energy to drive all night to confront Elizabeth; the A&E Lady Catherine clearly needed her beauty sleep.
I would have to back Duck-face against Sleeveless Hussy, again based on constitution: Sleeveless Hussy is likely to have contracted a cold and not be at her best. Though in addition to her fingernails, her hair might also be toxic.

Okay, guilt made me look up their names. Just in case anyone’s interested:
Sleeveless Hussy is played by Kelly Reilly.
And Duck-face alias brunette Miss Bingley is played by Anna Chancellor. (BTW, she had another try at Colin Firth in “What a Girl Wants.” And lost again. Come to think of it, she didn’t get the guy in 4 Weddings, or in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy either! She never gets her man!)
Cara
Upon reflection, I think the reason I backed Sleeveless…er…Kelly Reilley over Duck…Anna Chancellor is because I rather like Anna Chancellor. Cara’s right. She never gets the guy–even in this bad little movie I saw her in on the Canadian version of Lifetime (which oddly also starred Andi McDowell). She’d be a perfect Regency heroine!
I also back Kelly Reilly. She may look frail but she’s more sneaky–she’d find a way to cheat somehow.
And I back Dame Judi any day.
LOL, Cara! I just dashed over here on break froma rough day at work, and this is just what I needed. 🙂
Re: the Misses Bingley (or Miss Bingleys?)–that’s a tough one. Duckface looks more robust, but Sleevless (who, BTW, is great in “Mrs. Henderson Presents”, and not nearly as snooty) seems craftier somehow. Duckface, but not by a wide margin. And for the Lady C.’s, I’m going with Judi Dench. She’s younger and more spry, I think, but the BBC Lady C. is a sour old meanie for sure. 🙂
Poor old Duckface. She had her revenge in Tipping the Velvet, though, when she got, and dumped, the girl.
I think Sleeveless Hussy (thanks, Amanda) has a few nasty tricks up her nonexistent sleeves, and Dame Judy has definitely been around the block and picked up a few streetsmarts.
I wouldn’t give any of them a bath altho Duckface looked like her turban needed a good brush.
Janet
Wow, Amanda! I totally didn’t recognize sleeveless hussy as the sleeveless (and everything else-less) babe in Mrs. Henderson Presents! But now that you mention it, I do see a resemblance…
You know, I do feel some sympathy for Duck-face/Miss Bingley. She tries so hard, but she’s sort of pathetic. She thinks Darcy likes her, but he SO doesn’t. She thinks she’s being subtle and clever when she’s as obvious as an elephant in a swimming pool.
But sleeveless hussy really is just a you-know-what. 🙂 No sympathy for her at all. (Or her bathing suit dress!) 🙂
Cara
When I saw “Mrs. henderson..” I just knew I had seen that actress before but couldn’t place her, which always bothers me. 🙂 So I looked on imdb and saw she was Miss Bingley! And her dress DOES look oddly like a bathing suit…
