Wow, so very much baby news lately!! Diane is a grandmother, and a little prince or princess is soon on its way in England. I do not have any news of my own, (thankfully!), but I do like thinking about cute tiny clothes, precious weensy shoes, and best of all children’s books…. (I also took a shopping trip to the American Girl Place last week to buy a doll for my goddaughter–at 3 she is still a bit young for the AGs, but I had the best time wandering around looking at all the little outfits, reading the books, and planning for future presents for her. Did you know they now have a War of 1812 American Girl doll named Caroline??? Complete with spencers and bonnets and a wee little Regency dining room set. Plus a black cat named Inkpot. Bliss)
In honor of all this adorable new life, I’m having a little contest today! Guess the gender and possible name of the upcoming Baby Cambridge, and whoever gets the closest (and first!) to being right will win an autographed copy of any of my books you like. (My own guess is girl, but as for names I have no clue…)

Obviously I can’t enter, but have to say I love that War of 1812 doll! Too bad my girls have pretty much outgrown them. I never bought them the big dolls–sooo expensive!–but they had most of the 6 inch dolls, who had very interesting conversations comparing what it was like to live in each time period. 🙂
I’m guessing that she’s having a girl. I was going to go for Charlotte but William’s uncle Earl Spencer just named his daughter Charlotte Diana. I’m going to go for Diana Elizabeth.
Everyone’s picking a girl and it probably will be, but for some reason I’m rooting for a boy. I’ll go with Prince Henry (not to be called Harry, of course). A Princess Charlotte sure would be nice, though:)

I love all these guesses!!! I am thinking Diana probably won’t be the first name, but I hope it will be in there somewhere. (I am thinking girl because I read 9 out of 10 women with Kate’s illness have a girl. Plus I just think it would be cool to have a Queen Regnant one day who was there because it was her right as the firstborn, not because her parents weren’t “lucky” enough to have a son!)
Elena, I bet those were amazing conversations between the different dolls. 🙂 I came along after the AGs debuted, but I would have loved them. It was so much fun to choose one for my friend’s little girl
Oh, and as a Regency fan, I would also love to see a new Princess Charlotte as heir to throne 🙂 (or maybe a Victoria II?)
